The main reason, of course, is the weather! It’s such a contrast to the short, dark days and layering up with your gloves, scarf, hat and coat.
Flights
At just approximately a 4 hour flight from the UK, it really is among the closest destinations in winter where you can get the winter sun you require.
During the winter airlines naturally turn their attention to where the sun is, so usually more aircraft are directed away from the Mediterranean resorts to the Canary Islands. There are plenty of flights and often very good deals.
Festive Season
The festivities of Christmas and New Year – but in the sun – are definitely worth experiencing. Imagine spending your Christmas day sat on the beach! The first Christmas we spent on the island – 2009 – was absolutely glorious. Since then, we have spent every Christmas and New Year in Lanzarote, and enjoyed some fabulous weather.
There’s no need to worry about not feeling the Christmas spirit like you would at home, as there are plenty of lights, decorations and festivities. If you still wish to have the traditional British Christmas dinner, there are plenty of British bars that offer that and you can even buy a turkey from the local British supermarkets.
It doesn’t end there. New Year festivities in Playa Blanca are a delight, with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The seafront fireworks are followed by dancing and partying until the small hours and beyond – enjoyed by all, young and old.
Quiet time
If you’re considering travelling to Lanzarote in winter outside of the festive period, you’ll have the chance to experience the quietest period on the island – you’ll be sure to get a seat easily at your favourite seafront restaurant and a nice spot on the beach. It’s the great slow, quiet pace of life that many seek.
Villa rentals
There are some great deals on our villas, November and December pre-Christmas really are some of the best-value times to travel. Year on year, we have welcomed guests who have block-booked several winter weeks to escape the British winter.
Pool heating included in your private villa
Pool heating is included with us, at no additional cost during winter. You’ll also enjoy the comforts of home, with Wi-Fi and British TV at all our properties. Many villas also feature games such as a pool table and table tennis for fun for all the family. At Villa Renaissance, we have the added bonus of air hockey!
